WTF is this world coming to....

Not sure to post this here or in the garbage pile but since it has to do with fishing Ill post it here..... I just read the bs in the uwn confidential fishing forum and besides the fact that its an hour of my life Ill never get back it brings a question to my mind.. so here goes....

How many of you visit these forums to find places to fish?

Me personally I visit these forums for friendly discussion, something to waste time on, and to see pictures of other peoples success. I cant recall one time where I used a fishing report to go fishing. I usually decide where to fish based on the amount of time I have, what I want to catch, cost of trip etc. It would appear to me that the ones doing the most bitching are probably the most guilty of using the threads to find a place to fish. So in essence they are the ones that take advantage of hot spotting yet they get pissed if someone outs there spot.... I am in no way calling out anyone on this post im just curious how many people fish based on reports.....

complete craziness, I hope those who are really effected learn from the mistakes made.

The thought that comes to mind is why is it that the worst critics of hunting is hunters, fishermen people who fish, we can be our own worst enemy!

Sure, if I hear a place mentioned enough times I put it on my to do list. How else do you find out about new places to fish? I am pretty much a self taught fisherman who fishes alone most of the time so I learned about most places I fish via books, magazines, and the internet.

FWIW I think the 'confidential' section on UWN is a joke.

Just did some catch up reading over there on UWN. Reminds me of why I don't spend as much time on fishing sites anymore-- too many egos in play.

I agree w/this post. I have my own places I fish and hunt. Did before online forums, and will after them too. I like the social aspect of them.

I've always found it easier to get the scoop on a water from a buddy, however, I like the idea of a forum for discussing catching tactics.

I don't visit the UWN anymore, it lost its luster many moons ago.

Scotty, you'd probably really enjoy the Gutpile, check it out......

I'm pretty sure I signed up there a while back and maybe even made a post or two. I'll have to give it a look.
