Just wondering if any of you really think Palin is presidential material? Every time I see her speaking on the news I want to stab myself in the jaw. GWB always got a lot of shit about being dumb but by comparison he seems polished. When she is not giving a rehearsed speech covering her usual talking points she is like a fish out of water. If you need an example youtube ANY interview she has ever done.
Here is a classic:

Way better material than the one filling that position right now.

I was so sure this would come up that I almost included in my original post 'do you think she is presidential material based on her own merits without comparing her to anyone else'.
Saying she is better than someone you clearly don't like hardly lays out a case for her own qualifications. She has proved to be extremely ignorant on issues both domestic and foreign, and as far as leadership goes, she failed to fulfill her duties as govenor of AK.

I think she is a breath of fresh air. I suspect Osama Bin Obama would gaffe as well if his speeches weren't scripted and choreagraghed. Public speaking ability or lack there of are not indicative of leadership ability. The more eloquent a politician is in giving speeches is normally indicative of a polished liar.

My answer would have been the same had you done so. Look, YOU asked us what we think. I told you what I think. And now, because what I think is obviously counter to what you think, you’re going to belittle my statement. You did not ask me to lay out a case for her qualifications; you asked me what I thought.
And here’s another thought; I think that IF you had done just a little research on Sarah Palin, you’d know without a shadow of a doubt that your statement that “She has proved to be extremely ignorant on issues both domestic and foreign, and as far as leadership goes, she failed to fulfill her duties as govenor of AK” is totally false. And just what the Hell is a ‘govenor’?
Producing a video of the bitch from CBS blind siding Governor Palin in the early stages of the campaign is hardly laying out a case of ignorance, extreme or otherwise. As far as fulfilling her duties as Governor of Alaska goes, do you have a specific duty in mind or was that a blanket statement covering them all? Or was that just a rhetorical question to which you really don’t care to have an answer?

I'm sure you never make a typo. My question was if she is presidential material and you have yet to make a single point. Yes, I obviously don't like her and I am not hiding that but I have done plenty of research on her that led me to to dislike her. Mccain had my vote until he brought her out and she destroyed any chance he had of legitimacy. I have watched her interviews and guest apperances on FOX news where they throw her soft questions and practically help her answer them and she still makes little sense. And the duties as governor I was alluding to was the Office of Governor itself, which she up and quit for no good reason. If all you want to do is slam BO, why not do that on one of the many threads that have that as the topic?

Well, almost never. Not that I’m keeping track, but you made three more in your latest post. I highlighted them for you below.
ScottyP wrote:

No - it was not. To quote you exactly, you said (or asked if you prefer) “Just wondering if any of you really think Palin is presidential material?” And as I said before, I think she is better material than the sitting President. And that sir, answers your question.

And the next thing you’re going to be telling me is that the bitch from CBS NEVER throws soft questions to democrats/liberals running for office. Yeah – right! And the tooth fairy actually left those quarters under my pillow when I was a kid. Of course what she says doesn’t make any sense to you; she’s a conservative. Conservative values are about as alien to you as the little green men from Mars. Nobody really expects you to understand true conservative values. Understanding those values is probably just as hard for you as understanding the Chinese language is for me – I don’t have a clue about the Chinese language.

Oh contraire my friend; there was a reason. Be it good or bad depends on your political leanings. I’m on the road at present (not literally of course) and can’t post that information right now. But if you really want to know the reason, I’ll post it up later from home.

Sorry, but I’ll never pass up an opportunity to offer my opinion about ‘The Messiah.’ Could you possibly learn to live with that? I’d be ever so appreciative.

You assume too much sir. What makes you think I don't understand conservative values? My parents are very conservative republicans and my father in particular discussed politics with us often during my youth. I honestly thought that 'democrat' was a derrogatory (if I misspelled that I'm sure you will highlight it) term until I was about 10 years old. Politically I am an independant who is socially liberal and economically conservative. I revere our constitution, our system of government, and I love my guns. I'm not sure why you think conservative values are so foreign a concept to me. I just think that people like Beck, Rush, Hannity, Palin, and Newt are hurting the conservative image. They are the michael moore's of the right and lack serious credibility in my opinion.
BTW, are you an english teacher or newspaper editor by chance? Good hell!

Nah, but I spent a lot of time writing technical manuals in my 20 year service career and long winded, official radar evaluation reports as a Radar Systems Engineer after my service career.
Getting back to your original point; you said what Sarah Palin says makes little sense to you. And now you say you understand conservative values due to your upbringing. Well now, that doesn’t make any sense to me. I always make sense of what she says – always. What she says makes perfect sense. But I’m about as conservative as they come. Almost libertarian – but not quite. So if you don’t think Ms. Palin makes any sense, then I have to think you really don’t understand conservative values. Now you’re the one not making any sense.

I honestly think the worst mistake the GOP could make would be to run her in 2012. She should stick to her canned speeches and book signings.

You've just implied that libertarians are more conservative than conservative Republicans, and I disagree with that outlook. Libertarians are in favor of personal liberty and the freedom to do as one please as long as it doesn't unduly interfere with others' abilities to do the same. Conservatives, on the other hand, want to pass laws restricting people's ability to make their own decisions. There are areas where conservatives and libertarians agree, but there are vast areas of disagreement where they're poles apart.

Nominating Sarah Palin for the presidency would ensure that Obama remained in the White House until 2016. I could be wrong, but I fully expect the activist wing of the Republican Party to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by nominating either a populist demagogue or a moralizing conservative who would make Obama, despite his unpopularity, seem the lesser of two evils.

May I add Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich to your equation? I suspect that any combination of these four will add up to a second Obama administration. Unfortunately for the Republican Party, I don't see a rising star that would be palatable to the majority of voters. Things can change in two years, though. I never would have predicted Barack Obama's rapid rise from obscurity to the White House either.

Go ahead, I would say that your observation is pretty astute with those two.
