| Things are slow again, kinda disappointed, there are so MANY things happening that need to be discussed from the primary race, SCOTUS soon to rule on Obamacare, the recent executive orders, the blatant push for extreme liberal views.
Open to any suggestions!

Open to any suggestions! I fear that there can be no more civilized talk among the left and right at this point. Either one understands the Constitution and is spending all their time and money on preparation for the upcoming upheaval or you think the government is the faunt of all rights and powers and you're getting ready to stuff ballot boxes and push for more generational theft and "redistribution" from the worker's pockets into yours. It's no use attempting to reason with a liberal. Sorry, Yonni.

I hear ya! But you all are welcome to vent here as therapy to all the frustrations going on, there is a yearly expense to keep the domain name for this place that is due in May, just trying to figure to see if it is worth renewing.

| This forum has some lively spurts every once and awile, but is is far too dominated by a few posters with radical opinions that quickly take to name calling and bashing. Every moderator but me openly despises the left (am I still a mod?) and I noticed a recent poster who used the same combative tactics, but had liberal views was quickly banned for behavior that others have been getting away with all along. This forum is dying because we are killing it. The religion sub forum was very active for a while but because what I and a few others had to say was so offensive to the majority, it was killed. Yet fatbass can say stupid shit like the government is going to attack the people and no one hardly takes notice because that kind of rubbish has become the norm of this site, and is the cause of its stagnation and demise. | |

I’m torn between answering your comments above point by point or in general terms. Maybe in this instance, in general terms would be better.
I will agree that the posters here are passionate about their beliefs. And I have seen very few examples of anybody convincing the other side to switch. I try to make convincing arguments for or against issues by researching the facts as best I can and presenting the facts and by asking pointed questions about those facts. But like all the rest of you, I’m not perfect and an occasional opinion will slip in. And on those occasions when I’m shown to be wrong, I will openly admit to it and apologize. It’s the right thing to do and I wish more of you realized that.
Rational, reasoned, and researched arguments and counter points are the key to successful discussions but I don’t see that here with any regularity. The “name calling and bashing” tend to degrade the discussions into pissing contests. I try to steer clear of such pitfalls but I’m not always successful. Some of the recent banter between Proutdoors and me would be a good example of that. Yonni even had to step in and ask for a little more civility.
Overall, I think, this site produces some worthwhile discussions. Passions due come through to an extreme level on occasion but it’s interesting to see some civil dialog taking place the rest of the time. My life will not end if this site goes away. But if it continues for awhile longer, I, for one, will contribute where I can and try to learn from any facts and counter points you present for our consideration.
One final thought; here is a quote from another thread: - ScottyP wrote:

Scotty, can you explain to me just exactly what is a “typical American view.” Is it my view, your view, Pro’s view, Pete’s view, Yonni’s view? Is it the view of a Republican, Democrat, or Libertarian? Is the typical view age specific or gender specific? Seriously, I’m having a lot of trouble trying to understand just exactly what a typical view really is. Help me out here.
