| Because he'll maintain the status quo but with a faux-conservatism facade. | |

Screw the media. What are the people saying? Take a look at as many poll numbers as you can and you'll see that Romney is leading the pack from a voter perspective. Granted, polls can be skewed, but some of them are actually valid. That's why you need to look at as many as you can.
But then, it's still very early and NOBODY should be getting overheated about any of the potential candidates just yet.

| That's just it, the media coverage is why Mitt is doing well in the polls. The media hand selected McCain, and they will do their best to hand select another easy to defeat opponent for Obama. Why do you think Huntsman has gotten favorable coverage? Any time a republican gets positive coverage, take it as a sign that person is a mark. | |

| Saw some of the debate tonight, and Romney looked so fake, and his answers even worse. Officially done in my book, I can't stand fake people! | |

| First off, that was no debate. It was nothing more than a question and answer session. And the questions were not even close to being directed evenly to all candidates. Some questions were answered by only one person while most went to two and possibly three. Not one single question except the ‘This or That’ nonsense went to all candidates. Hardly a debate in my mind.
I can’t really say I was impressed with one candidate over all the others, but I can tell you that Herman Cain, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum do not fit my idea of Presidential material. But then, it’s early yet. There is still plenty of time left to gain a real sense of who these folks are and what they REALLY stand for. To put it in football terms, I guess I could say the pre-season has begun and the scores at this point in time are meaningless.

Thanks for bringing that up. The moderation felt contrived, almost like it was designed to limit the candidates. I thought some of the candidates got cheated out of some very good questions, or maybe I just wanted to hear them answer them....

I’m looking for the candidate that comes closest to having the same conservative values that I do. And at the top of the list, for me, is he or she damn well better be pro 2nd Amendment. I’m looking for a candidate that understands that increasing taxes WILL NOT decrease the deficit by itself. It would also be a bonus if they also understand that Corporations DO NOT pay taxes; ever. It’s just another tax passed along to you and me in the form of higher prices for goods and services. Repealing Obama care is another biggy. And of course, having a sensible, workable plan to get the economy turned around wouldn’t hurt either.
There are other concerns I’d like to see addressed but I don’t really have the time or desire to go into them at this time. But I will say that if CNN carries anymore so called ‘debates,’ I will not be watching. The last one was a farce and was nothing more than a poor attempt to make us common folks feel good about the GOP. I didn’t see any real substance at all.

Ron Paul meets all of your requirements, dubob. Why so anti?

I guess the first thing I would ask is: Why so anti - what? You didn't specify. If you're refering to Ron Paul, you say he meets my requirements. Maybe he does for those I've already listed, I don't really know. I know for damn sure he doesn't meet my requirements for a couple I didn't list. Again, I don't have the time or desire to go into them at this time. Can we just leave it as he doesn't impress me much?
