For me, this is the starting point and the end point for what the government of a free people. Once such principles are abandoned, whether all at once or bit by bit, the government is tyrannical. That means that Paul Ryan's budget proposal does NOT go to far, it does NOT go far enough! The corporate tax rate should be ZERO. The tax rate on production should be ZERO, taxes should be on consumption ONLY.

| These are honest questions so don't flame me and bear with me. Do you mean no taxes for any corporations? Ford, Exxon, ect.... If so where would the money come from to run the country? So are you saying the only time you should pay taxes is when you buy something? I am trying to make sure I clearly understand. I will proably follow up with more stupid questions. | |

| Let's face it. All corporate taxes are simply passed down to the consumer. If I make a $10 pizza and the gov't says I must now pay $1 tax for each I sell, my pizza will now cost $11. It really is that simple. Consumption taxes are fair to all. Those that spend the most, pay the most taxes.
At the risk of sounding less than libertarian, I would be for excusing all raw foods and energy from being taxed only because of the poor.

I contend that is very libertarian. Yoda, good questions, and I think fatbass answered them very well. I will add that having a progressive tax system like we have takes away many of the incentives for companies to expand, which means fewer employment opportunities. In reality we are being double/triple and sometimes even more times. If you make $60K a year you are taxed by the federal/state governments (1st tax), then when you buy products/services you are taxed on money you were already taxed on, same goes for property taxes. Then if you invest your leftover money wisely and make a profit on YOUR money that YOU risked, you are taxed on that. So, we have a consumption tax already, but we also are taxed on productivity, which stifles job growth, which in turn stifles revenue the government gets. It is impossible to tax a nation to wealth and prosperity! That is as nonsensical and thinking you can spend you way out of debt. Ironically, BOTH of these are what the current regime and the likes of VOR advocate doing.

| Thanks for the reply guys, I guess I just have a hard time wrapping my head around we would pay for everything. I guess the consumptive tax would have to be pretty high to make up for all the other loss of tax revenue. So what is your stance on income taxes? Do away with those also? I need to look into this more, interesting. | |

| Yes, the income tax needs to be done away with. It taxes income, which is taxing productivity. Before 1914 this nation didn't have an income tax and things were funded just fine. What it did was LIMIT the government's ability to throw money around, and kept the nation out of 14 TRILLION dollar debt! | |

| I just want to plug my own signature in here:
