The Supreme Court held Monday that the Constitution's Second Amendment restrains government's ability to significantly limit "the right to keep and bear arms," advancing a recent trend by the John Roberts-led bench to embrace gun rights.

By a narrow, 5-4 vote, the justices signaled, however, that less severe restrictions could survive legal challenges.

Still, Alito noted that the declaration that the Second Amendment is fully binding on states and cities "limits (but by no means eliminates) their ability to devise solutions to social problems that suit local needs and values."

I can't wait to see the lawsuits that follow this. In Heller DC was found to be unconstitutional, DC has made it so tough to buy and own a gun, since Heller only 900 guns have been permitted.

Mayor Daily and the thugs of Chicago will do what ever possible to block law abiding citizens from obtaining firearms and protecting themselves. There is nothing stopping Chicago from imposing a 5000 dollar bond to own a handgun in the name of public safety. The supreme court needed to go further in their judgment, that or rule against incorporation, leaving it up to the states to decide, then let the voters decide what they really want after the Supreme courts ruling.
