Hiking Club for 2011? Empty
PostSubject: Hiking Club for 2011?   Hiking Club for 2011? EmptyTue Oct 19, 2010 11:41 am

I have been pondering the idea of starting a hiking club for next summer. There are a few reasons as too why, one I need to get back into shape and loose weight, two I am in the youngmen's presidency and we are planning a 50 mile hike in 2012, and finally I miss the mountains. Been too long not going on a fun rugged hike. I am planning a hike atleast once a month starting in April and going until August, unless I can find it too work in the fall with my school schedule. These hikes will start out as easy and end up hard. here is what I am thinking for a schedule of hikes, most will be in the cottonwoods, some won't.

April- Deseret Peak
May- Mt. Olympus
June- Pfiefferhorn
July- Twin Peaks or Lone Peak
August- Kings Peak

This will be occurring on a Saturday with a very early start and we get done when we get done. I want to open this up too any who wish to come to tag along.

I am open to suggestions as too relatively close hikes but would be fun, challenging, and progresses from easiest to hardest. And if you are interested in tagging along let me know Wink

I would love to participate on a case by case basis. I work a rotating shift so I get about half of saturdays off. As far as Kings Peak goes, can that be done as a day hike? I was under the impression that was an overnighter.

Well this year is bad for hikers, still 500%+ snowpack, even Deseret Peak is still covered, not cool, ruined all my planning, atleast I have crampons I may need them!
