I guess the only thing that really kept me from being %100 was my opinion of compulsory military service.

I think we would find far fewer people who would be willing to burn the flag and not cover their heart during the pledge or the national anthem or even put up with that type of crap when it happens.

Watching friends die in the service of their country has a way of doing that to you.

The part of people not covering their hearts during the anthem really burns my ass. I am torn on the burning of the flag don't get me wrong it burns my ass too but there is a part of me that thinks it would be a violation of 1st amendment to prohibit it by law. That doesn't mean I wouldn't lose my temper and beat the living shit out of some asshole that did it in front of me.

It irks me as well when I see footage of someone burning an American flag, but it being permitted is a small price of freedom. Military compulsion would be a HUGE price of lost freedom, one that would be counter-productive.

I agree Pro. I am very much against compulsory military service.

I finally found something that I disagree with Pro on (outside of BYU vs.Utah).

While I'm not in love with any form of compulsory service, I do however think that a VERY large percentage of this country is ignorant to reality. I can't help but hope to believe that service to the country would leave people less inclined to support some of the stupid legislation that has placed our country in the situation it's in.

I also wasn't suggesting that people be beaten for not respecting the flag, but I am more than comfortable with embarrassing someone in front of a few hundred people.
