McChrystal Recalled to Washington- Ouch!

Lots of buzz around Post when this showed up. Rolling Stone Article.

I have real mixed feelings on this one, though after reading the link above, I have to admit, heads should probably roll.

More importantly, I think we really need to assess what we are doing in Afghanistan. Here's a decent counterargument and I get it, and if the war were going better I'd maybe even buy into it. But the war is sucking and maybe a change at the top is just the kick in the pants we need.

So what does the General say that is so bad? He basicilly said the folks in Washington are worthless. Can't blame him for speaking the truth.

Whether or not McChrystal's comments and criticisms were on the mark or not is one thing. Another is his deliberate insubordination and lack of respect for the military command structure. Add that to his and his staff's extraordinarily bad judgment in making those sorts of comments to a reporter and I suspect the guy will be relieved of command immediately after having his butt severely bloodied and blistered.

I'm not saying what he did was right, he should of kept it to himself. And considering his past he has made alot of bad judgement decisions.

I have no problem with him speaking his mind!!!

I personally don't mind him speaking his mind however as the commanding general in a war zone it sets a bad example for his subordinates ie the men and women fighting each and everyday putting there lives on the line. Comments the general made show a lack of discipline.When discipline breaks down in combat men die. When one is in the military you really do not enjoy the constitutional freedoms that we enjoy as civilians.

Was there an alterior motive for Obama to ax McChrystal? McChrystal is against the removal of the don't ask don't tell policy, while Petraeus wants it removed, time will tell, but I think there is more then meets the eye. This President continues to prove how thin skinned he is everyday.

I seem to remember ole George Soros running an add to the effect of "Gen. Betra-us" I wonder if he'll change his tune, now that "the chosen one" has called Petraus up for duty.
