So what part is bs, the list itself or the employee(s) who made the list?

The fact that more emphasis is being put on the fault workers that compiled the list, than on the 1300 names and info on that list. Nothing will be done as usual.

I think there's a lot of talking points on this topic. I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up in the forum yet. Welcome BadCompany, and thanks for bringing it up.

I am not happy about the way Shurtleff has decided to approach this, but I understand the reasoning behind it. The two workers DID commit a crime, and should be punished.

However, what about the people on the list? Are we to sit idly by, much like the Federal government has, and just let the illegals on the list remain, without any consequence, or are we to do something about the problem here?

I agree with badcompany, why are they not seeking the people on the list as well?
Then the latino community has a get together on the steps of the capitol to try and get more people to register to vote( which is fine) to get as many people to oppose any legislation that will hamper illegals coming into America. Its like the government is more concerned about hurting these illegals feelings than doing what is right.

Thanks Vanwilder, couldn't agree more. I am sick and tired of illegals coming in and not paying taxes or contributing in any positive way to our economy, and then collecting benefits like welfare, food stamps, whatever. On more than one occasion, I have personally witnessed food stamps being used to buy nothing but junk food. The individual then proceeded to pull out a handful of 50's and 100's to buy beer and cigarettes. Oh and the entire time children were everywhere. Filthy, loud, clothes too small you name it.
How does anyone figure that those individuals on that list are afforded any sort of privacy or rights that legal citizens enjoy?

You all can crucify me if you want but what those workers did is probably the second most patriotic act I have witnessed in a long time. Second only to the men and women that are lacing up there boots each and every morning slinging there weapon and defending this country. They should all be given a raise a letter of meritorious service above and beyond the call of duty along with a commendation from the governor. These people are recieving benefits from the public coffers and it should be public information! Arrest and prosecute the goddamn criminals and leave these great Americans alone!

Oh I totally agree that they did an awesome thing. However, my gripe is that they are the only ones being investigated. It's hypocritical to go after the people on the list and just let the two women off scott free. While I don't agree that the laws of confidentiality should apply to undocumented residents, the sad truth is that they do. Unfortunately they did break the law and if we want to take action against illegals, we have to enforce all laws the laws, regardless of how asinine they may seem.

So I heard on the news the DWS is sending apology letters to everyone on the list for the harm that it caused them. WTH is wrong with this picture? Man this makes me so damn mad I can't stand it! They might as well send them a SS number and voter registration cards while they are at it. Might as well make them all legal!

Don't worry, that is coming soon. Between the Governor and the AG the illegals have more allies than the legal citizens of Utah.

Like I said, I don't agree that they are ale to collect the same benefits as citizens enjoy. And if they do, there is NO way that they should be confidential. They certainly should not have any right to privacy.

Seriously? Get your shit straight. It is not an issue of race at all. I don't give a damn where you're from. And don't misconstrue my view on immigration either. Immigration is how this country was started and how we became a world power. ILLEGAL immigration is the problem. It doesn't matter where you are from, if you do not go through the proper channels to gain citizenship here, get the hell out. You have no business in our country. VOR wtf is wrong with you, non of this is part of the topic and you are just pissing people off, especially me. When someone disagree's with you and you resort to these antics all respect goes out the window. Nobody said that all natural born citizens are perfect and flawless. Some are just as much of a drain on society. That is true. Small business owners that hire illegals are killing the economy as well but at this point they have little choice. To stay in business everybody is having to cut back spending and laborers that do the job cheaper is an effective way to do that. I in no way condone the action. That is why it is important to rid the country of undocumented workers. Either wages will have to go up, or the prices on goods and services will drop. Both solutions work for me. It doesn't matter how hard working someone is. If they aren't legal then they are obviously dishonest and if I can't trust someone's honesty, I don't care how hard they work.

And as for the elected official you mentioned? Yes, their actions are deplorable. But that is not the issue we are talking about is it? Their personal transgressions have nothing to do with the number of border jumpers coming to our country daily. Illegal immigration is the focus at the moment.

You remember the DUI and the underage girl in the hot tub from what our legislature
did while in session a few months back... You remember the guy down in Utah County that swindled one of his ward members out of about 50K, Just happened the SHE was a very elderly WIDOW. Religion has nothing to do with this it just so happened to be the predominant religion of the state could have been any other religion but it wasn't.

You are all quick to ASSUME that just because someone has a Latino sounding surname or they are not speaking English that red flags need to go up. Ok so lets say that we are going to go round up the 1300 illegals on the list... Now what??? Ya gonna put them in Jail on my dime??? Ya gonna deport them back across the border??? How long till they are back??? Arizona is going to get tough, Well those illegals are going to go somewhere like Nevada, Utah, Colorado and so on.. You are so paranoid of the Feds doing anything that you can't or won't realize that it must be a uniform state by state set of rules or you are just going to push these people from state to state.

So what solution do you propose to fix the immigration issue, all that you do is insult all of us here. Why are you such a supporter of supporting ILLEGAL immigration? You call all of us out on the table, it is now your turn. How can someone who obviously despises hypocrisy when you yourself is being a hypocrite by supporting those here illegally. What solution to this issue makes sense to you? What "chance" should we give this group of people? Give us solutions instead of insults!
