Obamacare

Well as a small business owner, Obamacare has already backed me into a corner.... Last week I received a notice from BlueCross BlueShield that my insurance plan that is up in September is being done away with.... It is one of those Cadillac plans that the left despises..... Here is the kicker.....The other plans that are available through BC/BS are just as much money without near the benefits.... So being a capitalist I decided to shop around....In doing so I found out that if I change carriers and start a new plan, then some of the healthcare package takes effect..... I only offer insurance to my Full time salaried managers... I cant afford to offer it to all of my full time help....Dont get me wrong, I would love to be able to provide it to them but the economy alone is kicking my ass and there is no way I can offer it. Well under obamacare if I change carriers I have to offer it to all employees that work over 30 hours a week....... I cant afford to so here are my options......Take a lesser plan for the same money from BC/BS..... Get a new plan and offer it to all full time employees and go broke.....Cut my full time helps hours to under 30 hours a week (causing them to lose money and seek employment elsewhere)........Or do away with it all together causing myself and 3 managers family's to no longer have insurance..

I thought well maybe I can insure everyone since pre-existing conditions are off the table now.....WRONG that doesnt take effect until 2014..... Isnt socialism great

plotty sadly this will only be the beginning, it is sad when the small business is being attacked the way it is, it's the small business that keeps this nation going. Thanks for sharing a local example of how Obamacare is effecting us. is there anyway to /rage quit the government?

This is another example of how government intrusion hurts the little guy far more than it could ever hurt the rich/elite. Just like the minimum wage, those at 'bottom' get the most crap dropped on their heads.

This 'National Healthcare' thing reminds me of what Argentina did quite a few years ago. I'm scared !!

In a lot of ways, small business seemed to be one of the last bastions of freedom we have. Small business seem to dominate industries and resources less, leaving more openings for more small business, and more competition, also giving employees more choices, and with more choice, comes more freedoms.
I worry about the corporatization, and over-regulating that is ever more occurring these days. It seems like regulations only really benefit large corporations and force the little guys out. I also suspect that there is a lot of favoritism being played out between governments and corps.

It's almost like the government is giving you an incentive to pay the fine they keep talking about for not carrying insurance, rather than actually carrying insurance for your employees.

I got another example of how Obamacare is gonna butt fuh us. I have a co worker who I believe also had Blue Cross Blue Shield(BCBS), and check out what happened to him. Our work pays for insurance for us, and allows us to extend that coverage to our families. He has a healthy wife, with no pre existing conditions, and gets a letter in the mail one day saying that his deductible has now gone from 1500$, which is managible, to a whopping 8000$ This was 2 weeks after this shit bill was rammed down America's throat.
