Forgive the rant, but today was one of those days where I need to blow of some steam after seeing some teenage kids complaining about how "hard" things are....
Dear America,
Not long ago you were the greatest nation the world had ever known. You once had a generation known as the “greatest generation,” and for good cause.
Your people were admired and even envied for their strength and ability to achieve the impossible. You earned everything you had by the sweat of your brow, and helped your neighbor when he was in need. During times of great strife and struggle, you stuck together and pulled each-other up by the bootstrap when necessary.
You never shunned responsibility and understood what honor and dignity meant. You understood that a man’s word was as good as his bond, and that deals were sealed with a handshake.
Recycling wasn’t necessary because you didn’t eat half a meal and throw the rest out. You made use of every useful thing until there was no more.
Now your children think they deserve everything and have done nothing to earn it. You spend very little time focusing on important issues, and spend more time updating your Facebook status.
You are more concerned about doing what is socially acceptable rather than doing what is right. You would rather vote for a politician because he is the same religion as you, than finding the right man for the job. You vote for a man because you are in love with the idea of proving to the world that you are not a racist, and never studied his platform.
You are unable to discipline your children properly due to the threat of Child Protective Services becoming involved when you spank your child, or put a bar of soap in his mouth.
Arguments can no longer be settled without a courtroom, and school-yard squabbles now involve police, and grief counselors.
Honor and integrity between men is just a fallacy that can only be expected through page after page of contracts carefully drawn up by expensive lawyers.
Your children are already unhappy with the way they look and would rather spend the money you saved for their college fund on plastic surgery because they know that the only way to get a good job is if they look good.
Your children don’t know what is bicycle is, or how to play a game of kick ball in the neighborhood cul-de-sac. But they know how to defeat a level seven warlock by pushing down, up, left, left, hold the square button while pressing down.
You focus on telling our children not to believe in God and to believe in science and evolution. You tell us that there is no room for God in the nation’s business and forget that this nation is one nation under God.
You blur the line between morality and immorality, and throw that which is good by the way side and mock those who hold these principles dear to them.
You take that which was once socially abhorrent and make it popular and shun those who are trying to take a moral stance on social issues.
Your possessions own you, and one day you might own them if you make more than the minimum payments. You define your status in life by what little you actually own, and not those that you hold dear.
You have 387 Facebook “friends” and never speak to them directly to see how they are doing. But you are still friends.
You outright refuse to talk on the phone and carry on a conversation, but you will send 27,000 text messages a month to your BFF Stacy who is sitting right next to you.
You post malicious lies online about other people, and force them into complete and total humiliation and even force them to cause harm to themselves or others in response to your lies.
You lack all accountability and pass the responsibility onto someone else.
Marriage is only an option, not a requirement. It is not a commitment, and if it doesn’t work out, you can always divorce the poor bastard and take him for all he is worth because you have a feeling of entitlement.
You no longer use something until it is no longer useful, you just buy something else that will entertain you for a few more days (until you get bored with it and look for something new).
Responsibility and accountability are words that have been taken out of your personal code of ethics. By doing so, you can ride the welfare train all the way through life and blame everyone else but yourself for your personal circumstances.
You spend enough money on a cup of coffee each morning to support a family in a third-world country for a week. And spend more on a pair of pants than some people earn in a month, and then complain that you cant afford a Cadillac.
You are so infatuated with instant gratification that you wont save for retirement and expect that the government will take care of you. After all, you earned it.
Dear America,
If you are wondering why things are so bad. Maybe we should look back at our humble beginnings and recognize what once made this nation great.
