WTF talk about bassackwards legislation

I mean really do they think I am going to quit smoking because I cant buy a pack of Lights...... And does this mean in 10 years I can sue the state because I got lung cancer faster because I couldnt buy a pack of lights?...... Who makes this shit up...

This is what cracks me up about the 'social conservative' mindset, especially here in Utah.

The "light" cigarettes aren't going away, they are being re-branded as something other than. The legislation came about because of concern that the public was being misled into believing that because a cigarette labeled as "light" was somehow less dangerous than a "regular" cigarette.

I agree with you though.

As a smoker I have never been under the impression that smoking a light cigarette was safer than smoking a regular.... I smoke regulars because I am an nicotine addict from hell.... I smoke 1 1/2 packs a day..... whenever I buy lights because they are on sale or buy one get one free....I smoke 2+ packs a day.....Any smoker stupid enough to think that smoking is ok in moderation is an idiot.... and I really dont think we need stupid ass laws like this to protect us..............

I suffer from my wife's smoking addiction EVERY day!

You are right in that Pro.... Long term medical effects of smoking dont just effect the smoker...It effects society as a whole....but so does being obese, look at how many people that have health problems from over eating live on so called safety drinks like Diet Coke......Should we ban anything that says low fat or Diet...... At what point do we as a society finally say enough is enough.........

Lets face it, a good majority of the public is just plain stupid and while I believe that some of those people probably are smokers and that they may be dumb enough not to know the difference the government still needs to stop playing nanny.

To clarify, I in NO WAY support bans on smoking. Just pointing out the obvious on the ripple effect personal vices such as smoking, and my Mt Dew addiction have on the loved ones.
